Rally Tally ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data when you use the Rally Tally mobile application ("App").
1. Information We Collect
Information You Provide
- Account information: email address, display name, and username when you register
- Payment usernames: Venmo username and/or CashApp $cashtag, if you choose to add them
- Profile photo: an avatar image you optionally upload
- Night and expense data: night names, expense descriptions, amounts, categories, and receipt photos you log while using the App
- Guest participant names: names you enter for people without Rally Tally accounts
Information Collected Automatically
- Device push token: to send you in-app notifications (stored only if you grant permission)
- Crash reports: anonymous crash and error data via Sentry to help us fix bugs
- Usage analytics: anonymous, aggregated usage events (screens visited, features used) via PostHog to improve the App. No personally identifiable information is included in analytics events
- Device information: device type and operating system version, used only for debugging purposes
2. How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your Rally Tally account
- To operate core app features: tracking expenses, splitting bills, calculating settlements, and sending payment requests
- To send push notifications about night activity (new expenses, settlements, friend requests) — only if you grant permission
- To display your profile to other users in your nights and friend connections
- To diagnose crashes and improve app stability
- To understand how the App is used so we can improve it
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only in these limited circumstances:
Other Users
Your display name, username, avatar, and Venmo/CashApp usernames are visible to users you share nights with or add as friends. This is necessary for the core function of the App.
Service Providers
- Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage (supabase.com/privacy)
- RevenueCat — in-app subscription and purchase management (revenuecat.com/privacy)
- Anthropic — AI-powered receipt scanning. Receipt photos are sent to Anthropic's API solely to extract the total amount and are not stored or used for training (anthropic.com/privacy)
- Expo (Expo Push Notifications) — delivery of push notifications (expo.dev/privacy)
- Sentry — crash reporting and error monitoring (sentry.io/privacy)
- PostHog — anonymous product analytics (posthog.com/privacy)
These providers process data on our behalf and are contractually bound to protect it.
Legal Requirements
We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Rally Tally or others.
4. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on Supabase servers. We use Row-Level Security (RLS) policies to ensure users can only access data they are authorized to see. All data is transmitted over HTTPS. While we implement industry-standard security measures, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
5. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account (available in the App under Profile → Delete Account), all of your account data — including nights, expenses, settlements, and profile information — is permanently and irreversibly deleted within 30 days.
6. Your Rights
- Access: You can view your profile and expense history within the App at any time
- Correction: You can update your display name, username, payment info, and avatar in Profile settings
- Deletion: You can permanently delete your account and all associated data from Profile → Delete Account
- Notifications: You can disable push notifications at any time in Profile settings or your device settings
7. Children's Privacy
Rally Tally is intended for users 13 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it immediately. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@rallytally.app.
8. Third-Party Links and Services
The App may facilitate payments through Venmo and CashApp by opening those third-party apps. We do not transmit your payment credentials to these services — we only open their apps with pre-filled information. Those transactions are governed by Venmo's and CashApp's own privacy policies.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
